Mission Statement
We are a dedicated volunteer-driven registered charity that promotes literacy and actively empowers adult learning partnerships for personal enrichment in The Greater Fort Erie Community.
The program offered is:
  • Completely geared to the needs of the individual
  • Confidential
  • Provided in-home in culturally sensitive situations
  • At no cost to the learner

The Life skills that you and I take for granted - writing cheques, filling out applications, studying for a driver's test, reading to children, following recipes can be major obstacles for adults who cannot read.
Fortunately with your help, there is a place people can turn for assistance in improving their literacy skills - The Adult Literacy Council of Greater Fort Erie.

Our tutors are the most valuable resources we have and without them, The Adult Literacy Council would not be able to accomplish its mission. They are committed and generously volunteer their time.
Learn More About Being A Tutor

Literacy is the ability to understand and employ printed information in daily activities at home, at work and in the community - to achieve one's goals, and to develop one's knowledge and potential.
