The Learners

The ALC provides tutoring to adults over the age of 19 who want to improve their literacy skills. Some of the learners did not finish school, some who are in community colleges need upgrading, and some adults are interested in family literacy, while others are speakers of other languages. There are as many learner profiles as there are learners.

The ALC offers:

•     literacy teaching to those adults who have "fallen between the cracks" of the regular education.
•     one-to-one tutoring and as such is completely flexible and geared to the individual's needs.
•     in-home tutoring in culturally sensitive situations.
•     confidentiality.
•     no cost to the learner
